We're really pleased to be able to share that Papermule has achieved ISO 14001 environmental certification.
On the surface, that might sound like just another standard or badge. But for us it represents something much more meaningful: a clear commitment to running a responsible business while continuing to build great publishing technology.
From the very beginning, we've believed that doing the right thing and doing good work shouldn’t be at odds. We work with many of the UK's largest publishers who care deeply about sustainability, efficiency, and accountability — and frankly, so do we. Achieving ISO 14001 gives us a recognised framework to back that up with action, not just intention.
The certification process involved a close look at how we operate day to day — from energy use and waste management to how efficiently we use resources across the business. It wasn’t about ticking boxes; it was about understanding where we already do well, and where we can do better.
What we particularly like about ISO 14001 is that it’s not a one-off exercise. Maintaining the certification means committing to continuous improvement, and that mindset fits perfectly with how we approach software development and client relationships. We’re always looking for smarter, more efficient ways to work — this just extends that thinking to our environmental impact.
For those who don’t know us, Papermule is based in Diss, Norfolk, and we build digital asset management, workflow and planning solutions for publishers in the UK and internationally. Our products — including AdDesk, PlanDesk, AdDesk (PADN), EdDesk — help editorial and advertising teams work more efficiently every day. Now, we’re making sure the way we run our business is just as considered as the technology we deliver.
I’m proud of the team for the work that’s gone into achieving this certification, and I’m proud that sustainability is something we’re embedding into how Papermule grows, rather than treating as an afterthought.
ISO 14001 isn’t the end of the journey — but it’s an important step, and one I’m very glad we’ve taken.
